As you walk through Troyes, you can’t miss the beautiful architecture and impressively restored traditionally built 16th century houses. It was once a bustling trade city and is home to numerous museums and interesting buildings. The city’s centrepiece is the Saint Madeleine church, with one of the most beautiful carved stone axillaries in all of France.

The wonderful natural surrounds hold their own appeal, not to mention all the champagne producers and their champagnes. Whatever you do, you can finish the day with a sparkling glass of champagne and a delicious dinner. And for those who enjoy shopping, the numerous outlet shops in Troyes offer plenty of opportunities.

During a weekend in Troyes, you will get a good impression of what the Champagne region has to offer. Take a drive through the surrounding villages and visit a small champagne producer, where champagne has often been produced by the family for centuries. This is a fun way to learn about the champagne making process, as well as the character and particularities of this production method. Naturally, your visit isn’t complete without tasting a number of the house’s special champagnes. And we are certain that, just like many before you, you’ll be an instant fan!

Visit a medium-sized champagne house

During your visit to Troyes, it’s definitely worth visiting a larger champagne house. You’ll quickly notice that this is quite a different experience. Highly recommended if you’re interested in experiencing the grandeur of world of champagne.

Visit to historic buildings and museums

We definitely recommend visiting the spectacular Saint-Pierre or Saint Paul cathedral, Saint Madeleine church, Saint Urbain basilica or the Saint Pantaléon church. The Saint Urbain basilica is a gothic masterpiece with beautiful stained-glass windows and the Saint Pantaléon church is home to an impressive collection of statues. They give you an excellent impression of the gothic style, as well as housing an array of local treasures inside.

Interested in museums? Enjoy the following museums in and near Troyes: Museum of Modern Art, Pharmacy Museum, Maison de l’Outil et de la Pensée Ouvrière or Saint-Loup Museum. Another interesting and attractive option is the museum of the painter Renoir. In the southern town of Essoyes you’ll find one of his former studios together with a modern museum.
