How far in advance should I submit my travel request?

The Champagne region is a popular destination, and many accommodations and restaurants get booked quickly. That’s why it’s important to submit your request in time, especially if you’re traveling with a (large) group. For group bookings, we generally recommend submitting your request 6 to 12 months before your desired departure date. For smaller groups, a period of 3 to 6 months is usually sufficient.

Popular events such as Route du Champagne and Habits de Lumière are often fully booked up to six months in advance. If you plan to visit during these events, we strongly advise booking well in advance.

Thinking of traveling on short notice? You are always welcome to submit a request, but please be aware that the preferred package may no longer be available. Unfortunately, we cannot process last-minute requests.

Can I book activities without purchasing a package?

No, the activities we offer can only be booked in combination with one of our packages.

Is it possible to combine multiple Champagne Travel packages in one booking?

Yes, that is possible! If you have multiple packages in mind and can’t decide, no problem! We can tailor the arrangements and individual elements to ensure your trip meets your exact preferences.

What is the best time to visit the Champagne region?

In our opinion, Champagne is a fantastic destination all year round! Each season has its own charm. In spring, the vineyards begin to awaken, and the landscape slowly turns green. However, this is also a tricky period, as late frost can damage the new buds. May and June are particularly popular months and are often booked well in advance.

If you want to see the vines in full bloom and admire the large grape clusters, July and August are ideal. In mid-July, you can also take part in La Route du Champagne en Fête, a festive weekend in the Côte des Bar. July is a popular travel month, whereas in August, some producers and restaurants close for local holidays.

Are you curious about the harvest season and the start of fermentation? Plan your trip between early September and early October, when the harvest usually begins. However, the exact timing varies each year. September and October are also popular months for larger groups, so booking in advance is advised.

Even in winter, the Champagne region is worth visiting. In December, you’ll find charming Christmas markets, and the spectacular Habits de Lumière takes place in Epernay. Keep in mind that on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, most establishments in the region are closed. By January, the region slowly starts up again, though some producers and champagne houses remain closed. From February or March onward, most reopen to visitors.

In short, each season offers a unique way to experience Champagne!

Which champagne houses do you work with?

We collaborate with all major champagne houses that welcome visitors. Additionally, we have partnerships with many small, family-run producers that offer excellent guided tours and tastings.

You can also indicate any preferred champagne houses when submitting your request, and we will do our best to accommodate your wishes.

Do you process travel requests year-round?

No, we take a summer break in the months of July and August. From early September, we start processing all new requests again, in the order they were received. This means that the first request submitted will be handled first.

Is the price listed on the website the actual price to be paid?

In general, the price shown on our website is the price per person per package.

However, prices may fluctuate depending on the season and the availability of accommodations. If there is any price variation, we will always inform you in advance.

Is Champagne a child-friendly destination?

Champagne is generally not the first destination that comes to mind for a typical family vacation, mainly because champagne, and therefore alcohol, is central to the experience. Tastings and guided tours at champagne houses and producers are primarily designed for an adult audience. These locations usually do not offer facilities such as playgrounds or children’s entertainment. Additionally, some places, such as restaurants, châteaux, and champagne houses, have a luxurious and formal character. Whether young children will feel comfortable in this setting and whether it aligns with your family’s preferences depends on the parents. Champagne is renowned for its elegance and luxury, so it is important to keep this in mind when planning a visit.

However, do not let this discourage you, as there are certainly ways to explore the region in a fun way with children. Think of hiking or cycling through nature, picnicking in the vineyards, and discovering charming villages.

Where is the best place to stay in Champagne?

The Champagne region can be divided into several subregions, each offering its own unique charm and attractions. Epernay and Reims are the largest and most well-known cities in the north. Reims is famous for its Gothic cathedral and offers a mix of cultural and wine experiences. The smaller town of Epernay lies in the heart of the region, where you will also find the famous Avenue de Champagne. In the northern part of the region, most of the major champagne houses and many charming villages are located. In the southern part of Champagne, you will find the city of Troyes, with several characteristic Champagne villages further south. For those looking for a more rural experience, smaller villages offer a charming stay. We work with carefully selected hotels and B&Bs in these areas, all of which are included in our travel packages.

Do you offer vouchers or gift cards?

Absolutely! We can customize a gift card for a specific amount or package. The recipient can then choose their own travel dates.

How many days do I need for a trip to Champagne?

The ideal duration of your trip depends on how much you want to see and do. Our packages are typically based on a two-night stay, but they can always be extended.

For a short introduction to the region, three to four days are usually sufficient. In this time, you can visit a few champagne houses, enjoy local culinary delights, and take a walk through the villages and vineyards. If you would also like to explore cultural landmarks such as the famous cathedral in Reims or the historic center of Epernay, or if you want to combine your trip with a visit to the southern Champagne region, a stay of about five to seven days is recommended.

Is Champagne a suitable destination for a romantic getaway or honeymoon?

Absolutely! Champagne exudes romance and is a perfect destination for couples looking for a special experience. Think of romantic dinners paired with beautiful champagnes, overnight stays in authentic châteaux or boutique hotels, and peaceful walks through the vineyards. Whether it’s a romantic weekend away or a luxurious honeymoon, we can create a package that fully aligns with your wishes. We have also had the pleasure of helping organize several marriage proposals.

Do you offer tailor-made trips?

Certainly! We offer the possibility to create a fully customized trip. Whether you want to visit a specific champagne house, find a unique place to stay, or combine cultural and culinary experiences, we are happy to help. Since this is a bespoke service, the price will be determined based on your specific requests. Contact us to discuss your ideas.

What is the best way to get around in Champagne?

The best way to explore Champagne is by car, as many champagne houses and vineyards are spread throughout the region and are not always easily accessible by public transport. However, keep in mind that driving under the influence is prohibited, so be sure to consume alcohol responsibly. For a completely worry-free experience, we can also arrange a chauffeur and private transport for you.

Do you organize group trips to Champagne?

Yes, we organize group trips for both private and corporate groups. Champagne is an excellent choice for a team outing, bachelor(ette) weekend, incentive trip, or family getaway. We tailor the program entirely to the needs and size of the group, ensuring that everyone enjoys a well-organized and unforgettable experience. You can find all the possibilities on our website.

In which language are the visits and activities conducted?

All our visits and activities are available in English or French. Some of the larger champagne houses have staff who can provide tours in other languages. If you have a specific language preference, please indicate this when booking. We always ensure that smaller producers provide a well-guided tour in English. This also applies to our other activities.

Do you provide transport from the airport and/or Paris?

Yes, we can arrange transfers from the airport as well as all transport within the Champagne region. Additionally, it is possible for us to pick you up from or drop you off in Paris or another location in the region.

On which days and at what time do the visits to the champagne houses take place?

This can be arranged according to your preferences. It is possible to schedule both visits on the same day or to have the first visit in the late afternoon on the first day and the second visit the following day. If you have a preference for a specific champagne house, we are happy to accommodate this.

From what time can we check in at the hotel on Friday? Will we receive the name of the hotel after booking?

Check-in is possible from 3:00 PM. If you arrive earlier, you can leave your luggage at the hotel. The name of the hotel and further details will be provided later in the booking process, after payment.

What are the options for a picnic box on location? Can dietary requirements be accommodated?

A picnic box is available for one or more persons, and dietary preferences can be indicated in advance. The location is centrally situated in the region, but of course, you are also free to take the picnic lunch to another spot of your choice.
