Netflix has launched a new Christmas film featuring a strikingly familiar setting. The holiday romcom Champagne Problems takes place in the heart of the Champagne region and shows several locations that we at Champagne Travel know very well. Actors Minka Kelly and Tom Wozniczka win over the audience with their charm, together with Sean Amsing, Flula Borg and Astrid Whettnall. The film is written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, known for Daredevil, Ghost Rider and the Netflix romcom Love Guaranteed.
For the region, this international attention is particularly valuable, especially in the anniversary year celebrating 10 years of UNESCO recognition. The film shows that champagne is not only a world-famous wine, but also a region with elegance, character and a strong sense of art de vivre. In Champagne Problems, that atmosphere is clearly portrayed through locations that any champagne enthusiast will immediately recognize.
Familiar addresses
From New York to Paris and then to the Champagne region. Part of the film takes place at Château de Challerange in Taissy, and Château Comtesse Lafond in Epernay serves as the domain of the fictional Château Cassell.
In addition, a scene was filmed at the luxurious villa Résidence Eisenhower in Reims, there is a toast in front of the doors of Champagne Boizel, and you see romantic and funny moments during the annual light festival Habits de Lumières on the Avenue de Champagne in Epernay.
Inspiration for your next trip
The film confirms the trend we have been seeing for some time: Champagne is on the map worldwide. It appeals to many people, as Champagne Problems has rapidly become the most-watched film on the platform across 49 countries. International enthusiasts are eager to visit the region where heritage, craftsmanship and gastronomy come together so perfectly.
